1. Acceptance of these terms

Using heritagelane.co.uk means agreeing to what follows. The agreement is between you and HeritageLane, and it takes effect the moment you use the site.

Nothing here is hidden in a subclause. Where a term limits what you can expect from us, it is stated plainly and in its own section.

Statutory rights that cannot be excluded by agreement are not affected by anything in this document.

2. Definitions

• “Site” means heritagelane.co.uk and every page published under it.
• “We”, “us”, “our” mean HeritageLane.
• “You” means the person using the site.
• “Content” means text, images, layout, code and any other material published on the site.

Words in the singular include the plural, and headings are for navigation only — they do not limit the clause beneath them.

3. Who may use the site

You must be of legal age in your jurisdiction to use the site. Where you act for a company, you warrant that you have authority to do so.

Access may be restricted in territories where the content would not be lawful. Where you are responsible for local compliance, that responsibility stays with you.

4. What the site provides

The content is informational. It describes our work in general terms and is not tailored to any individual situation.

For a decision that matters, consult a qualified professional who can consider your specific facts. General information cannot do that job.

We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site. Availability is not guaranteed and we do not promise the site will remain in its current form.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to do any of the following:

• use the site for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that breaches the rights of others
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its server, or any connected system
• interfere with the site's operation, including by overwhelming it with automated requests
• scrape, copy or republish substantial parts of the content without written permission
• introduce malware, or upload anything designed to damage or disrupt
• misrepresent your identity or affiliation when contacting us

We may block access where use breaches these terms. Where the breach is serious we may also report it.

6. Intellectual property

Unless stated otherwise, everything published on heritagelane.co.uk is owned by HeritageLane or licensed to it, and remains so.

You may read the site, print pages for personal reference, and quote briefly with attribution. Anything beyond that needs permission.

Requests for permission are welcome and are usually answered quickly. Asking costs less than a dispute.

7. Material you send us

Sending us a message does not transfer ownership of it. It does give us the permission we need to handle the enquiry.

Do not send confidential information through a web form. If a matter is sensitive, tell us and we will agree a suitable channel first.

You are responsible for having the right to send what you send, including anything belonging to a third party.

8. Links to other sites

Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience. We do not control them and do not endorse their content by linking to it.

Each linked site has its own terms and privacy policy, and those are the ones that apply once you leave here.

9. Pricing and payment

Where prices are shown, they apply at the time of display and may change. A price becomes binding when we confirm an order, not before.

Applicable taxes are added where the law requires. Payment terms, if any, are agreed in writing for each engagement.

Obvious pricing errors do not bind us, and we will tell you promptly if one has occurred rather than quietly proceeding.

10. Disclaimers

The site is provided as it is. We take care over its content, but we do not warrant that it is complete, current, or free from error.

Availability depends on infrastructure we do not entirely control, so we cannot guarantee it.

Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

11. Limitation of liability

Our liability for indirect and consequential losses is excluded so far as the law allows.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what is proportionate in the circumstances and, where a sum has been paid to us, to that sum.

These limits apply however the claim arises, in contract, tort or otherwise, and they survive termination of this agreement.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms, to the extent the law permits.

We will tell you promptly about any such claim and will not settle it without consulting you.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or withdraw access where these terms are breached, or where doing so is necessary to protect the site or other users.

You may stop using the site at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive — intellectual property, liability, governing law — continue to apply.

14. Changes to these terms

Revisions take effect on publication. The current date is always visible at the end of this page.

Continued use after a change means acceptance of it. If a change is not acceptable to you, the remedy is to stop using the site.

15. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the law of the country in which we are established, and disputes are subject to the courts of that country.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory rules in your own country of residence.

If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest continue in force and the offending provision is read down to the minimum extent necessary.
